Set in Rotterdam’s desirable centre, minutes away from a wide range of fine restaurants and bars, world class museums and stylish shops.Dreaming of living in the most stunning apartment in Rotterdam? Don’t miss this unique opportunity!
Situated in the Boomgaardsstraat, close to the vibrant Witte de Withstraat, is the most spectacular apartment in Rotterdam. Internationally known for its unique design by architect Joost Kühne, this spectacular apartment is located in the heart of the city. For many years, the apartment was the architect’s home, and is now available to rent. Will you be the new occupant?
The apartment is listed in ‘Architectuur in Nederland 2009-2010’ and in the publication ‘Rotterdam Architectuur Stad’. Kühne’s design was also awarded Rotterdam’s Van der Leeuwprijs for its ingenious use of the public space.
The building and the architect
The apartment is located on the top floor of the offices of Kühne & Co architects, and was designed by the owner Joost Kühne. In 2009, he pulled off the impossible, creating a new building in Rotterdam’s heavily built-up centre. In a feat of creative virtuosity, Kühne placed an entirely new building over a parking garage, and the street. His design revitalised this wonderful, but neglected, part of the city. And it’s in one of Rotterdam’s liveliest streets – the Witte de Withstraat.
The apartment
The apartment interior was designed with equal flair. This three-room penthouse is finished to the highest specifications. The apartment is roughly 200 m2 and comprises a striking open-plan living space, two bedrooms and a shower area. The apartment boasts two spacious bedrooms, one of which is currently designed as a study. The apartment is unfurnished for rent.
Kühne describes the 24 m by 4.5m living room as four separate living areas in one, each with its own personality. He also designed a luxurious bedroom, complete with rain fall shower. An internal lift provides access to the apartment; secure allocated parking is available on the ground floor.
But perhaps the apartment’s most breath-taking feature is the roof terrace, which measures approximately 80m2. The layout of the interior continues into the outside space where, enhanced by three well-kept plantain trees, the terrace feels like an urban oasis, fourteen metres in the air.
